With spring approaching and more warm and sunny days, I thought I will tell you about a new purchase I made last week. It's a new putter. Yes, a putter. A putter is a very important club maybe the most important club in your bag. If you practice and take your time, without dragging of course and slowing down play of other golfers, the putter will provide you with much happiness and your score will benefit from it. A putter produces pars, birdies, and even eagles for some of the long knockers. Even when you fail to reach the green in regulation, (that means one shot for par three, second shot for a par four, and third shot for a par five) you may still have an opportunity for par if you make a great putt. Wow! a par. You can get all the best drivers or irons and always hit the green in regulation, but the putt is important for any level player. Just ask the professionals. The putt is typically the most important stroke which helps them make the cut and play on the weekend. Normally the one who putts best will win the tournament or at least high on the final "tournament leader board".
So, my advise for the day is to practice, practice, practice and if you do your score will improve greatly and make the game of golf even more enjoyable. I plan to enjoy the next warm day practicing with my new putter and I hope you hit 'em long and straight. But most of all keep dropping those putts.
Have a Great Day!
